Physical Properties: m-Phenylenediamine is a white needle shaped crystal at room temperature, soluble in ethanol, water, chloroform, acetone, and dimethylamide, slightly soluble in ether and carbon tetrachloride, insoluble in benzene, toluene, and butanol, unstable in air and prone to turning pale red.
Applications: m-Phenylenediamine is an important organic synthetic raw material, mainly used as a dye intermediate and as a fur dye. It is also used as a curing agent for epoxy resins, a coagulant for cement, and as a mordant, color developer, etc. It can also be used as a petroleum additive, raw material for pharmaceutical manufacturing, and chemical reagent.
